and the ref (15) changed to (15, Table 8). The CDC age
jA( groupings are "20-44" not "20 to 45". This reviewer has not
een refs 24 and 49, but I bet they are 20-44.
p5 1113 "...psychoactive drugs (24,49) and get arrested
for possession of drugs (50)..." That and should be changed
for an or.
p5 114-16 "These AIDS patients fall into two major
subgroups, intravenous drug users who are mostly
heterosexual and oral drug users who are mostly homosexuals
(15).
This reviewer cannot find support for the underlined
statements in ref 15. Another citation, or a more specific
citation should be made.
p5 117-19 "The CDC reports that abouL30% of the American
AIDS patients use intravenous drugs such as heroin, cocaine
and others ()."
This reviewer ca not find support for the underlined
portions in ref 15. An additional or more specific ref is
needed. "about 30% should be changed to 29% for the reasons
cited above, if ref 15 is used.
p5 119-21 This group includes about 75% of the heterosexual
AIDS cases, 52% of all females with AIDS, and over 10% of
the male homosexuals and hemophiliacs with AIDS (15).
This reviewer can't figure out how these numbers were
x teased out of ref 15, and I would imagine that the general
LO reader would have the same problem. The author should state
how he acquired these numbers, and reference them.
p5 124-25 "Likewise over 30% of European AIDS patients are
intravenous drug users (51)."
This reviewer has not checked ref 51, but again precise
quoting leads to transparency, and transparency to
confidence in the argument and in the author. In any event,
7this sentence is mislocated; it should follow the sentence
above

AIDS are born to mothers who are confirmed intravenous drug
users and another 20% to mothers who had "sex with
