I do have a fair number of family members in NYC, but so far all seem to be fine. The LSC did have a chance to review your collaboration request on Monday's call. We discussed it at some length and I had an opportunity to summarize for them all of your recent data. The Committee was very interested in your studies and voted in favor of supporting a collaboration with you. As I mentioned previously, we remain extremely limited in the numbers of samples that are available to us for ancillary studies in ongoing protocols. We are currently looking into some of the completed AVEG canarypox studies (e.g. protocols 034 and 034a) to determine where we may have available cells. We will let you know what samples we are able to give you. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. I look forward to future collaboration and hope that you too are doing well in the aftermath of yesterday's tragedy. I also hope that the tragic events of yesterday did not directly affect your family and friends. I was wondering if my protocol had been discussed during the conference call that should have taken place on Sept 10, and how the discussion went. As I mentioned to you, my application went out as planned, and it would be great to be able to include a more detailed letter of collaboration and, later in time (if possible) some suppplemental data obtained on HVTN samples.
