As we discussed, I am faxing you questions regarding the recent
$20 million appropriation for the phase III trial of the gpl60
vaccine.
1. In my 23 October article (to follow) I quote MicroGeneSys
lobbyist Donald Clarey saying he went to ''the budget people''
who work in the office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for
Health Affairs. Who from that office spoke with Clarey and/or his
partner John O'Shaughnessy?
2. If such discussions took place, what was there nature?
3. Did Russell Long or anyone from his law firm speak with that
DoD office about the gpl60 vaccine?
3a. Did Franklin Volvovitz or anyone else from MicroGeneSys speak
with that office?
4. Was Assistant Secretary Mendez or anyone in his office aware
of the legislation prior to 18 September 1992?
5. Did anyone in that office speak with anyone from Congress or
congressional staff about the matter?
5a. If so, what was said by both parties?
6. Is DoD planning to investigate (or already investigating) this
matter on any level, including the Army?
6a. If so, what does/will the investigation entail, who
instigated it, and what is the purpose.
