To the Freedom of Information Officer,
As per the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), please send me the
correspondence received in response to the Food and Drug
Administration's 15 April 1992 proposal to accelerate the
approval of new drugs and biologicals for patients with serious
or life-threatening illness. (The proposal appeared in the
Federal Register, Vol. 57. No. 73, pages 13234-13241, with the
contact person listed as Marilyn Watson, CDER.) Comments were
received until 15 June 1992.
If documents are denied in part or in whole, please specify which
exemption(s) is (are) claimed for each passage or whole document
denied. As I expect to appeal any denials, please specify the
office and address to which an appeal should be directed.
I am requesting these documents for a story I am writing for
Science magazine. I believe my request qualifies for a waiver of
fees since the release of the requested information would
primarily benefit the general public and be "in the public
interest."

for in the Freedom of Information Act.
