Dear Mr. Helsing,
As you suggested, here is a more specific version of my 22 May
1992 Freedom of Information Act request. You also said that for a
fee waiver, you would need verification from Science magazine
that I was indeed researching this subject for them. A letter
from the managing news editor, Colin Norman, follows.
I am researching a story for Science magazine and, per the
Freedom of Information Act, would like information regarding all
outstanding or resolved suits and complaints regarding sexual
harassment at ADAMHA for the past five years. I realize the
request is broad and I would gladly interview ADAMHA counsel or
review ADAMHA files myself to narrow it down.
Ideally, I would like, at a minimum, a description of each case
and its disposition. If the complaints are not too voluminous,
please send me the complaints themselves.
If documents are denied in part or in whole, please specify which
exemption(s) is (are) claimed for each passage or whole document
denied. I am not seeking any trade secrets, personnel or medical
files, or anything that involves national defense secrets, so I
expect to appeal any denials; please specify the office and
address to which an appeal should be directed. I believe my
request qualifies for a waiver of fees since the release of the
requested information would primarily benefit the general public
and be "in the public interest."
