Dear Mrs. Stephanakis,
I am writing a book on AIDS vaccine research for Delacorte Press
and would like information about the U.S. military's contracts
with a commercial vaccine developer, MicroGeneSys. If possible, I
would like to get copies of all contracts with MicroGeneSys and
the U.S. military. I believe that the company has, in addition to
AIDS vaccines, contracted with the military to develop vaccines
for malaria and several flaviviruses. The contracts probably date
back no further than 1984/85. If it is not possible to get the
contracts themselves, I would be interested in knowing: 1) when
they were issued, 2) what the contract amount was, 3) and what
the given project intended to develop. If need be, please
consider this request as per the Freedom of Information Act.
I also am interested in learning about a collaboration between
the U.S. military and Dr. Daniel Zagury from France's Pierre and
Marie University. As I understand, Zagury had received money from
the U.S. military to study AIDS and primates. I have been told
that this contract was pulled. I think its number was: DAMD 17 -86-C-62-84. In addition to the contract itself, I am interested
in any other paperwork available that describes the project and
its outcome. Again, if need be, consider this request as per the
Freedom of Information Act.
