Joan--
I enjoyed our talk last Friday, and thanks for making the time. I
thought I'd scratch out a pie-in-the-sky wish list of the things
we discussed that would still help me:
1. Dates
You mentioned that you might have old calendars. The specific
dates I'd like to confirm are the meetinq with Gallo at Salk
Institute (April 15, 1986), your first meeting with Gallo's lab
(May 12, 1986), the first draft of the mediation idea (June 28,
1986), and a cataloq of mediation dates, location, and content.

3. Documents
Your journal entries. I'm looking for accuracy and anecdotes, not
dirt. I would run anything by you before usinq it.
Jonas told me that on the Saturday before July 4, 1986--the June
28, 1986 date I mentioned above--he drafted the mediation idea,
suggesting the listing of a chronology. Could you see if I could
have a copy of this? (If possible, I'd also like to see a first
draft of his 1987 paper that appeared in Nature and the rejection
letters I suspect he received from several publications.)
Whatever literature you might have on the Jefferson Institute.
I've made the offer before, but let me make it again: I have
tremendous files on every AIDS vaccine developer you can think of
and just about every AIDS vaccine meeting held in the past few
years. If you ever need any documentation--transcripts from NIH
or FDA meetings, stock analyst reports, scientific papers, blank
taxicab receipts--let me know.
