Dear Mr. Senatore:
Jon Cohen has asked me to write you a note concerning his request for
accreditation to attend the Seventh International Conference on AIDS.
Jon is currently writing what we believe will be a very important and
very well-received (both critically and commercially) book on the
subject of AIDS research. This book, currently called PLANNING A
MIRACLE, will be unlike any other in its dramatic, personal portrayal of
the people, the science and the commerce of AIDS research. We're sure
that the book will itself be a newsworthy event, and we fully intend to
make the public aware of its publication.
It is critical that Jon attend this conference, for his book must be
accurate from not only a scientific perspecitive, but also a "you are
there" perspective, which he can obviously only portray if he is indeed
there. A book offers a unique opportunity to clearly present all sides
of an issue at length, and I know it is in the best interests of the
Seventh International Conference on AIDS to have an even-handed,
exciting and accurate portrayal in print such as the one Jon Cohen is
currently contracted to publish.
Jon also does freelance writing for Science magazine, D.C. Paper and
other publications; I've enclosed a sample.
