Skills Building Workshops Thursday luly ii Raising Funds and Mobilizing Resources B63 1for HIV/AIDS Work Venue: Room 5:6A Time: 10o:3o - 13:30 Language: Spanish Target Audience: National NGOs and CBOs, community leaders, NGO support providers, technical support consultants The workshop is about planning fundraising work in a systematic and strategic way to avoid wasted time and resources and avoid being donor-led. Participants will share experiences and ideas about fundraising with co-facilitators who work for NGOs based in developing countries, and will develop practical fundraising skills. Language: English Target Audience: Healthcare workers involved in HIV care in developing countries (basic clinical knowledge of HIV manifestations is required, medical degree is not required), public health workers The topics covered in this workshop span from basic science, epidemiology and prevention, health care planning and management, to clinical issues, social response and education. The skills acquired include knowledge of: basic clinical manifestations of HIV infection, pathogenesis of HIV/AIDS, principles of ARV therapy, ARV guidelines for resource limited settings, MTCT prevention, clinical management of ARV toxicities, management of Ols. Language: English Target Audience: Caregivers, doctors, nurses, social workers, therapists, palliative caregivers, pastoral counselors In this workshop we will review the life events that help you relate to the world around you, exploring natural human emotional responses and how these may have become distorted and repressed; the effect of this upon physical, psychosocial and spiritual well being. We will explore issues of stress management, self-care and quality of life. Recommendations will be made regarding further training skills like fundraising, report writing, etc. Women will leave the workshop with information that will enable them to start self-help groups in their own countries. Facilitators: M Somda, International Community of Women Living with HIV/AIDS, Burkina Faso; I Defeu, ICW, France Caring for Others, Caring for Me: Rethinking the SB67 IPersonal Focus around HIV Care and Treatment Venue: Room 2A Time: 14:3o - 17:3o Language: Spanish Target Audience: Social workers, counselors, peer counselors, people who work with partners or family members of PLWHAs, HIV+ educators This workshop looks at the context around the issues of personal care and the care of others in the process of staying on treatment. Participants will explore the benefits of "selfcare" and the positive effects of supporting others. This concept is very useful to explore in couples who live with HIV, discordant couples, persons who live alone or who have remote support.Through the use of candies that take the place of medicines, together with prescriptions that are similar to those used for anti-retroviral treatment we will create an environment with multiple possibilities around the use of treatment. Facilitators: 0 Sarmiento, Fundaci6n en Accidn; R Sandoval, INdetectable, Colombia How to Select, Evaluate and Maintain the Correct CD4 T-cell Counting Method for Your HIV/AIDS B68 Treatment Clinic Venue: Room 2B Time: 14:3o - 17:3o Language: English Target Audience: Clinical laboratory scientists, infectious disease physicians, laboratory managers The workshop will empower scientists to make the most appropriate method selection and to facilitate regional skills building workshops using their newly acquired tools. It is designed as an interactive workshop with modular components. A short video segment will rapidly initiate and facilitate interactive participation related to the operation of an HIV serology laboratory facility. The enactment module(s) will provide life-like scenarios to deal with critical and realistic decision-making situations. There will be opportunities for "reverse role playing".
