Horizons aims to strengthen and refine
the response to HIV/AIDS in developing
countries through operations research
on topics of global significance. For
example, Horizons seeks to identfy
effective responses for:
Preventing HIV infection through
changes in behavior and community
norms.
Preventing, diagnosing, and managing
STIs.
Expanding treatment, care, and support
programs.
Mobilizing NG0s, communities, and
governments to provide effective services.
Assisting mothers and families in
preventing mother-to-child transmission
of HIV.
Changing negative gender norms that
increase the vulnerability of women
and men to HIV/AIDS.
Reducing stigma and discrimination
against those infected with and
affected by HIV/AIDS.
