Horizons conducts global operations research to strengthen HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and support programs. Horizons is implemented by the Population Council under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). H rli Refining through z the response to HIV/AIDS global operations research ons Horizons aims to strengthen and refine the response to HIV/AIDS in developing countries through operations research on topics of global significance. For example, Horizons seeks to identfy effective responses for: Preventing HIV infection through changes in behavior and community norms. Preventing, diagnosing, and managing STIs. Expanding treatment, care, and support programs. Mobilizing NG0s, communities, and governments to provide effective services. Assisting mothers and families in preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Changing negative gender norms that increase the vulnerability of women and men to HIV/AIDS. Reducing stigma and discrimination against those infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
