Examples of the types of expenditure included within each of the above functional categories are:
Growing Up Healthy Vaccination programs; training community health workers; building and equipping health clinics.
Learning Teacher training; building and equipping classrooms; adult education.
Habitat Building wells; building latrines; housing improvements; training communities in planning and managing projects.
Livelihood Providing credit facilities; grain production improvement; job skills training.
Building relationships - field and national organisations Organising, both in the field and at national organisations, communications between
Foster Parents and Foster Children; translating letters; photos; reports for Foster Parents and cross-cultural materials; related postage, printing and
other communications costs. Also, expenditure on child rights projects.
Program support - field and international headquarters Field program management staff vehicles for visiting communities; coordinating field
programs; costs of centrally-developed computer software for field programs; other services for field programs, such as human resource
coordination.
Field occupancy In the field:- Rent of offices; office equipment; guards.
Field administration In the field:- Accounting staff, audit staff; secretaries; telephone and fax costs; couriers; computer software; staff training.
Fund-raising Marketing costs associated with attracting new Foster Parents and other donors; costs of starting new national organisations.
Operating Cost of handling funds received from sponsors; most costs of magazines and similar information for sponsors; non-field rent and office
costs; non-field costs of activities in finance, human resource and information technology departments (except those included in field and central
program support); general management costs.
Where applicable, each of the above categories includes salaries.
