More than 6% of the population, about 500,000 people are living with HIV/AIDS,
according to the data presented by Ezechias Rwabuhili, Ministry of Health.. Because of
the AIDS epidemic the hospital are so overcrowded that often there is one single bed
available for two person with the disease. According to the National Agency for Control,
of HIV infection about 11,1% of people with age ranging from 12 and 49 years is living
with HIV/AIDS. Since the '80s the average life expectancy has significantly reduced in
the country: it is just 42 years at present.
