LATEST DATA ON CRIXI/VAN:
STUDIES DEMONSTRATE UNSURPASSED EFFICACY UP TO TWO YEARS,
TWICE-DAILY DOSING CONVENIENCE, AND GOOD TOLERABILITY
Longest study of antiretroviral treatment with CRIXIVAN is published in JAMA
Geneva, Switzerland, 28 June 1998 -- The protease inhibitor
CRIXIVANTM* (indinavir) taken with two other AIDS drugs, has shown
unsurpassed durable efficacy by driving the amount of HIV in the blood to
undetectable levels in four out of five patients for an unprecedented two years,
according to the updated findings of a landmark study published in the Journal of
the American Medical Association (JAMA).
The study, known as Protocol 035, is the longest reported trial of a
combination antiretroviral regimen producing sustained reductions in viral load.
The findings, which underscore the long-term durable efficacy of CRIXIVAN,
appear in a special issue of JAMA being published to coincide with the 12th
World AIDS Conference taking place here this week.
