34385 Technical support, methodology, and financial system in
order to work whit the community s response facing the
VIH/AIDS

Issues: Up to 1995 there was not a whole proposal regarding the HIV/AIDS
related to the local development that would give emphasis to the community's
response. There was just few and weak actions taken for prevention and attention.
There was a lack of approaches that could connect all the possible parties.
Project: A national program of initiatives to face AIDS using a technical-methodical, and financial support system is developed. It would strengthen, qualify, and
support the communities and the organizations in order to plan and work with
integral answers on prevention and attention of the Sexual Transmitted Diseases

and the HIV/AIDS. COMUNIDEC is support technical and financial support from
International HIV/AIDS Alliance.
Results: 56 communication, prevention, and attention projects supported between 1995 an 1997. Strengthen of the community's response in order to attend
people living with HIV/AIDS. Prevention advise. New developmental organizations
working on AIDS. Unification of prevention actions. Inclusion of work on Sexual
Transmitted Diseases within the main organizations. Encouraging the parties to
give an answer for the local and community organizations. Training people living
in the area, in order to work on AIDS.
Conclusion: A national work proposal on HIV/AIDS should include a developmental point of view, an active participation of the community, the work of different
areas and parties, community, diagnoses, local leadership, human improvement
in different areas, and join actions taken with the state.
