TRACK C: Epidemiology & Public Health 1. Frangoise Dubois-Arber, Switzerland Specialised in Public Health and Prevention. Currently with the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine in Lausanne and head of the Evaluation Unit of the Swiss Government's Program for the Prevention of AIDS. Member of the European Union's Working Group on Human Rights, HIV/AIDS & Discrimination. Was responsible for the conception, coordination and evaluation of the Swiss Federal Government's strategy for the prevention of AIDS in Switzerland and until recently a member of Swiss Federal Office of Public Healths working group on 'Women & AIDS'. 2. Jean-Baptiste Brunet, France Director of the European Centre for the Epidemiological Monitoring of AIDS, Saint Maurice, France and founding member of the French Study Group on AIDS. Coordinates surveillance activities for HIV/AIDS in the European region (48 countries) and conducts epidemiological research programs and evaluation studies of prevention activities on HIV. Is the author or co-author of over 100 publications and has served on the editorial boards of several scientific journals, including AIDS and the Journal of AIDS. Served on the organising committee of the 2nd International Conference on AIDS in Paris and as co-chair of Track C for the 10th International AIDS Conference in Yokahama 3. Mabel Bianco, Argentina Dr. Bianco is President of the Foundation for Studies and Research on Women in Buenos Aires. She is a medical doctor and an epidemiologist with a masters in public health. Among other positions, Dr. Bianco has been the coordinator of the Women, Health and Development Program of the Argentinean Ministry of Health, a member of the Executive Committee of the Pan American Health Organisation, Argentina's representative to the Board of UNICEE She is currently a Board member of the Latin American and the Caribbean Women's Health Network, coordinator of the International AIDS Women's Caucus of the International AIDS Society and member of the Editorial Advisory Board of 'Reproductive Health Matters'. Dr Bianco was also a member of the Track D Scientific Program Committee for Vancouver and the International Steering Committee of the 9th International AIDS Conference. TRACK D: Social Science: Research, Policy & Action 1. Dominique Hausser, Switzerland Specialised in AIDS prevention and public health. From 1984 to 1991 was responsible for the conception, co-ordination and synthesis of the assessment program of the Swiss AIDS Prevention Policy and from 1989 to 1995 was the Director of the Swiss National Research Program on the psycho-social aspects of AIDS. Has also worked as a consultant to the WHO Global Program on AIDS and published extensively on the pyscho-social and cultural aspects of HIV infection and prevention, particularly relating to promotion of condom use and harm reduction in HIV drug users. 2. Geeta Rao Gupta, India/USA Geeta Rao Gupta is Vice-President of the International Center for Research on Women, working on the Center's reproductive health project, including the 'Women and AIDS Research Program'. Dr. Gupta has a Ph.D. in social psychlogy from Bangalore University in India and has over ten years of experience in the fields of women's health and women in development. She has authored several articles on gender and reproductive health and helped to develop a curriculum on women's health for a graduate program at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Bombay, India. 3. Aphichat Chamratrithirong, Thailand Dr. Aphichat is an associate professor at Mahidol University, Thailand. He is the former Director of the Institute for Population and Social Research. He has investigated HIV/ AIDS related sexual behaviour, socioeconomic impact and the efficacy of prevention interventions. He has published widely in the areas of reproductive health and population. Dr. Aphichat has a Ph.D. in sociology from Brown University and has served on various international committees, including WHO's Steering Committee for the Task Force on Behavioural and Social Determinants of Fertility Regulation. He leads the HIV/Social Science review committee for the Thai government and was a member of the scientific committee of last year's AIDS in Asia Conference in Chiang Mai. Track Troikas
