Currier, MD Associate Professor of Medicine Associate Professor of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases Division of Infectious Diseases University of Alabama School of Medicine University of Southern California Birmingham, Alabama, USA Medical Center Los Angeles, California, USA Learning Objectives The information provided in this course should enable course participants to: * Realize the prevalence, impact, and projections for HIV infection in women on a global scale * Identify gender specific HIV issues in gynecology and pregnancy * Discuss current status of perinatal transmission trials * Use management strategies for HIV infected women in the developing and industrialized world * Better understand treatment guidelines and the factors that influence implementation of guidelines * Recognize barriers to compliance Accreditation The University of Alabama School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Alabama School of Medicine designates this education activity for a maximum of 1.5 hours in Category 1 credit towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
