Community Participation
S The Conference is committed to fair and complete representation of people living with HIV and their
advocates.
* All of the Conference's advisory committees contain at least one community member.The Scientific
Program Committee includes one community participant on each of the four program tracks.
* All committees are gender and geographically balanced.
* An international 10 person Community Liaison Committee meets regularly and brings forward the views
and requirements of the global community.They also disseminate information about the Conference and
the Scholarship Program (see below) to their communities.
* Also, our four person in-house Community Liaison Department ensures that the Conference Organisers
stay well informed of the needs of community-based participants.
* A Scholarship Program has been developed to bring people living with HIV and people from the developing
world to the Conference. So far, contributions to this program have been made by Health Canada, and
several member organisations of the United Nations Joint Programme on AIDS. Fundraising efforts continue
in earnest.
