Abstract Volumes Accredited Media can purchase the Abstract Volumes at the Merchandise Stores (BC Place Level 2) for a discounted rate of $35 (CAD).Your Media badge must be presented at time of purchase. Several sets of Abstract Volumes will also be available for media to use in the Print Work Area and Broadcast Centre. Access to Media Centre Access to the Print Work Area on Level 5 and to the Broadcast Centre is limited to accredited media. Delegates may be invited by journalists to these areas but must obtain a Media Centre Visitor Access Pass, available at the Information Desks in the entrance foyers of Gates 9 and 10 of General Motors Place. Delegates have access to the Restaurant and Lounge on Level 4 and to the News Conference area on the arena floor. Accreditation The Conference Media Badge ensures access to the official ceremonies and plenary sessions at General Motors Place, the afternoon concurrent sessions at the VancouverTrade and Convention Centre and the Exhibition and Poster Hall at BC Place Stadium. Lost or stolen badges must be reported to the Vancouver Police at the Mobile Policing Unit and a formal police report filed.This documentation is required to re-register (Registration is located on Level 4 of BC Place). A $60 (CAD) fee will be charged to replace all badges. AIDS-related Resources In addition to the information on current issues in the field of AIDS contained in this Guide, journalists are encouraged to make use of print resources located in the Print Work Area. These resources include an exhaustive AIDS glossary prepared by the Gay Men's Health Crisis and the AmFor HIV/AIDS Treatment Directory. Supplies are limited so journalists are requested to share whenever possible. Many other resources can be found in the Exhibition and Poster Hall located at BC Place offered by both commercial and not-for-profit exhibitors. (Hours: 09:30 - 16:00). Computers / Internet Access Three Compaq computers, one with CD-ROM drive and one with modem for access to the World Wide Web, are available for general media use in the Print Work Area of the Canon International Media Centre.They are available on a first-come, first served basis and usage may be limited to half hour time slots depending on demand. Technical support for personal or laptop computers can be arranged through the Conference official supplier, Vernon Rental and Leasing,Telephone: 273 1191 or check with the Media Centre office. Cultural Program A diverse program of theatre, film and visual arts events is taking place at various venues around the cityThe Conference Media badge provides free access to some of these events. Please consult Vancouver's arts and entertainment weekly The Georgia Straight, which is available in the Media Centre. Document Centre Copies of all presentations made available to the Conference by the authors can be obtained at the Document Centre on Level 4 of the Media Centre at General Motors Place. The only access to this area is via the Southwest elevators from Gate 9. (See map page 10). 46
