Local calls can be made at a pay phone by inserting a 25-cent piece
(a quarter) and dialing the seven digit number.Telephone numbers
within British Columbia but outside Vancouver must be preceded by
the area code 604. From a hotel room, the seven digit number is
usually preceded by the number 9.

To reach directory assistance within British Columbia, dial 411.
Say the name of the city/town where the number you are seeking is
located and an operator will assist you.To reach directory assistance
in the rest of North America, dial I+orea code+555-1212.An operator
will ask the name of the city you are trying to reach and assist you.
LONG DISTANCE DIRECT
Long distance direct calls within North America can be made by
dialing I+area code + number. For International calls dial 011 before the
country code, the area code and the number you are trying to call.
PRE-PAID TELEPHONE CARDS
Westel Telecommunications Ltd. is offering a special AIDS Conference
pre-paid telephone card ($10 denomination) which can be purchased
at BC Place and the VTCC. Simply follow the instructions provided on
the card to make long distance calls.

*To make a collect call, to charge the call to another number or to
charge it to a Calling Card follow these directions:
*Within North America dial 0+ area code + number and follow the
instructions offered by the recorded message.
For international calls dial 01 at the beginning and follow the procedure
outlined above.
