As I spoke with you yesterday I did not realize that in fact Genentech has put forth a
protocof to the WHO steering committee and the Thai government to do a gpl20 MN
trial in IVDtfs in Thailand. Perhaps you were already aware of this, but I just learned
of it from John McNei, here. I was corre"t in sayig that we are not involved withat
particular proposal We have written a protocol wi Chiron to do a small a1.gpl2O SF2 trial with the written Intention of following this up with a trial of a phase:
or -1,trial6 of a bivalent gpl2O (SF2, CM236). Obviously, i is our bias, that the initial
phase gpl20 SF2 trial is only relevant it we are to concomitantly pursue a vaccine
based on strains B" andE" (especially since even in IU's, the prevalence of type
"E" is increasing and probably approaching 50%)
