Instead, we assume that all applicants will understand that to apply for these programs if they are not HIV-infected would be a disservice to the people bearing the burden of this pandemic and would interfere with our common goals. 3. Developing Country Sponsorship Program The Conference will provide sponsorships for as many individuals from developing countries as is possible given available funds. Applicants must be residents or citizens of a developing country. Recipients of these sponsorships will be selected by a Developing Country Sponsorship Committee. Priority will be given to individuals who have submitted an abstract that has been selected for oral or poster presentation.When making its selections, the committee will consider a number of factors including rating of abstract quality; residence in high incidence AIDS developing country; and the number of other abstracts selected for presentation by residents of that country. Individuals wishing to apply for participation in the Developing Country Sponsorship Program must submit a completed Conference Registration form, with the Developing Country Sponsor ship Program box checked in the Registration Fee area, to The Dutch Foundation at the address listed in the section on page 20. We strongly suggest that letters requesting registration in this program be mailed at the very earliest possible date. Applicants will receive an application form in response to their registration. 4. People with HIV Reduced Registration Fee Program The Conference will provide reduced registration fees for people with HIV. The PHIV registration fee is dependent upon the date by which your Conference Registration Form is received, as follows: Advance: Received by 2 March 1992: 380 Dutch Guilders Standard: Received after 2 March 1992, but before 1 June 1992: 570 Dutch Guilders Late: Received on or after 1 June 1992: 665 Dutch Guilders People with HIV wishing to apply for this reduced registration fee must submit a completed Conference Registration Form with the PHIV box checked in the Registration Fee section to CONGREX Holland BV at the address listed in the "Registration Address" section on page 19. 5. People with HIV Scholarship Program The Conference will provide 400 registrations to people with HIV at no cost. People with HIV wishing to apply for participation in this program must submit a completed Conference Registration Form, with the PHIV Scholarship box checked in the Registration Fee area, to The Dutch Foundation at the address listed in the "Registration Address" section on page 20. Applicants will receive an application packet in response. Final selection of participants will be made by a committee including members of non-governmental organizations, who will make every effort to ensure the most diverse possible representation of people with HIV. 6. AIDS/STD Professionals Scholarship Program The Conference will provide 260 registrations at no cost to AIDS professionals who could not otherwise afford to attend the Conference. Individuals wishing to apply for participation in this program must submit a completed Conference Registration Form, with the AIDS/STD Professional Scholarship box checked in the Registration Fee area, to The Dutch Foundation at the address listed in the "Registration Address" section on page 20. Applicants will receive an application packet in response. Applicants should be prepared to describe their work and client group; explain why funds for Conference participation are not available; and outline how Conference attendance will enhance the applicant's work in the field of H-IV/AIDS. Final selection of scholarship recipients will be made by a committee including members of non-governmental organizations. The selection process will make every effort to ensure the broadest possible international representation of AIDS professionals serving diverse groups in the epidemic, with an emphasis on the selection of people working in under - served communities. 21
