Registration Programs Intended to Increase Conference Participation The Conference organizers are deeply committed to making every effort to increase participation by all groups working in and affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. It is crucial, for example, that the Conference include a full range of participants from developing countries. It is also vital that people with HIV participate fully in the VIII International Conference on AIDS/Ill STD World Congress, for this is essential to an informed dialogue on this disease, provides individual participants with information important to their own health care, and is an effective method of wide and rapid distribution of this knowledge to other people with HIV. In addition, progress against HIV/AIDS will benefit greatly from Conference attendance by representatives of the many AIDS educators, caregivers, and social service providers working in communities throughout the world. In order to reach these goals, we have created four separate registration categories for such individuals. These programs include reduced fee registrations, in which the Conference provides individuals with a low cost registration; scholarship programs, in which the Conference provides individuals with free registration; and sponsorship programs, in which the Conference provides individuals with free registration as well as assistance with other costs associated with Conference attendance, such as travel and accommodations. We encourage eligible individuals worldwide to apply for participation in these programs; through them, we hope to ensure diverse representation at the Conference. Registration Process for Reduced Fee, Scholarship, and Sponsorship Programs To facilitate your application for any of the reduced fee or sponsorship programs, please follow the guidelines below. Applications for participation in all scholarship and sponsorship programs must be received no later than 2 March 1992. PHIV reduced rate registrations must be submitted according to the schedule outlined in section four below. Please note that a single individual may apply for participation in only one of the reduced rate registration, scholarship, or sponsorship categories. Those eligible for more than one category must decide in which single category they wish to apply. The Conference will not require appli cants for those programs specifically de 20
