AMERICA Living With AIDS Programs to train health care providers to recognize and manage drug and alcohol use must be expanded, and programs that integrate treatment of drug use with primary care must be created and supported. The Commission believes more federal funds are needed for these efforts. 4. Federal, state, and local entities should provide support for training, technical assistance, supervisory staff, and program coordination to acknowledge and support the family members, friends, and volunteers who are an integral part of the care system of a person with HIV disease. 60
