He sal be maliciouse and ful of envy, Als of hym þus spekes þe prophecy: Fiat Dan coluber in via, cerastes in semita, mordens ungulas equi, Line 4172 ut cadat ascensor eius retro, Hoc est [Anticristus] sicut serpens, in via sedebit, et in semita erit, ut eos, qui per semitam iusticie ambu| lant, feriat et veneno sue malicie occidat. Line 4176 "Þe Dan" he says "sal þe nedder be Sitand in þe way als men sal se; And sal byte þe hors by þe hufe harde, And mak þe upstegher fal bakwarde: Line 4180 And þat es þus mykel at say, Als [Þat (Harl. 4196).] anticrist, als nedder, sal sit in þe way, And smyte þam alle, bathe mare and les, Þat walkes in þe way of rightwysnes, Line 4184 And sla þam thurgh þe venym Of þe malice þat sal cum of hym." Yhit sal he be circumcid And thurgh þat his malice a whyle sal hid. Line 4188 Alswa til hym sal assygned be A gude angelle, þat he sal noght se, Aftir his birthe in his bygynnyng, Þat of him sal haf þe kepyng, Line 4192 Bot for he agayn þe trouthe þat es, Sal be hardend in wikkednes His gude angelle sal fra hym wende, And leve hym in þe kepyng of þe fende.
