When he had spokyn so, in spite · he spittes at hys face, Dispysys hym dyspytussly · revylez hym foule. "Hent þe þar-to," quod þe athell · "þat þe to haue semes, Cure, for þi kene carpyng · cache now a shame!" Line 748 Þan ayres hym forth alexander · & hys aynde takes, To let swage or he sware · þe swelme of hys angre, Wysez hym how he say wald · or he aunswer ȝheldes, And turnyd hym þen to þis tulke · & talkez þir wordez: "For þou hase noȝtyd me now · nicholas," he sayd, Line 753 "I swere by my syre saule · & by hys seluen pyte, And be þat worthi wombe · of my wale moder Þat I was gettyn in of god · & grathly consaued, Line 756 Thu sees me, lede, in þi land · or oght lang cnarmed, And oþer recouer me þi realm · or reche me vppe [þe] girdyll." Þan sett þai þaim on suche a day · to semble & to fight, And þar-to takez vpp þar trewthez · & twynnon in-sonder. Þan ȝode hym furth þis yong man · ȝapely & swithe Line 761 Into þe marche of masydon · & manly assembles Of sowiours & of syker men · a some owt of nowmbre, Þat wer þe baldest & þe best · breuet in armez.
