for þei ne haueþ noȝt resceyued þe charite of treuþe þat þei weren y-maad saf. & þerfore God schal sende to hem a [verse 11] worchynge of errour, þat þei bylefen to lesynge; & þat alle þei ben y-demed þat bylefeþ noȝt to þe trewþe, bote as|senteden to wykkednesse. [verse 12] Bote we oweþ efermore [P folio 71b] to þanke God for ȝow, þat [S folio 62] beþ y-lofed of God, þat God haþ y-chosen ous þe furste fruyt in-to hele in þe [om. P.] holynesse of [verse 13] Spiryt & feiþ of trewþe, in þe whuche God haþ y-cleped ȝou by oure [ȝoure P.] euangelye, in getynge of þe blisse of God & of oure Lord Iesu Crist. [verse 14] & þerfore, breþeren, stonde ȝe, & holdeþ þe tradicyones þat ȝe han y-lerned, wheþer it be by word, oþer by oure epistel. [verse 15] And oure Lord Iesu Crist, & God oure Fader þat lofed ous & haþ y-ȝefen ous an eferlastynge com|fort [verse 16] & a good hope in grace, conferme ȝoure hertes in eferich good werk & good word.

[verse 1] And breþeren, her-aftur preyeþ for ous, that Goddes word [verse 2] renne & be y-claryfyed, as it is wiþ ȝou; & þat we ben delyuered from vncofenabel men & wykked; for þe feiþ ne is noȝt of alle men. [verse 3] Bote God is trewe, þat schal conferme ȝow & kepe ȝou from yuel. [verse 4] & we trusteþ in ȝow in God, þat ȝe doþ & schulen don þilke þinges þat we hafeþ y-bede ȝou don. [verse 5] And oure Lord dresse ȝoure hertes in þe charite of God, & in þe pacyence of Crist. [verse 6] And breþeren, we chargeþ ȝou in þe name of oure Lord Iesu Crist, þat ȝe wiþ-drawe ȝou from eferich broþer þat walkeþ in-ordynatlyche [nota in margin, S.] , & noȝt after þe tradycyon [P folio 72] þat ȝe han vnderfongen of ous. [verse 7] And ȝe ȝouselfen wyteþ hou it byhofeþ ȝou to folewen ous; for we ne were not [verse 8] vnpesybel a-mong ȝow, ne eten noȝt oure bred of no mannes ȝefynge, bote trauayleden & weren wery boþe nyȝt & day, for [verse 9] we ne wolden noȝt chargen no man of ȝou: noȝt as þoȝ we haden y-had no power, bote for we wolden [S folio 62b] ȝefen ous-selfe forme to ȝou, how ȝe schulden folewen ous.
