THE sentence of þis composicion is, þat Iohn of welle know|lichid him-self [folio XLIIIb(53b)] to be holde to dame alice Gorgis, Abbas of Godestowe, & to þe couent of þe same place, in lxxij. shillings of sterlinges of goode & lauful monei, þe whiche was bi-hinde of his rente of þe tenement in Garsindon, þe whiche tenement he claimid to holde of þe fore-seide abbas & couent in þe seide towne of Garsindon. He grauntid þe same monei, to be paid Also to þe same abbas & couent, at þe termis vndur write, truli & with-oute gile, lesseninge or lette, at Godestowe: þat is to sei, þe sone-dai next aftur þe Natiuite of oure ladi, xxiiij. yere of þe reine of kinge Edwarde þe sone of kinge henri, xx. shillings; & þe feste of seinte Thomas þe apostle þen next folowinge, xx. shillings; & at hockedai nexte folowinge, xx. shillings; & at þe natiuite of seinte Iohn baptiste next folowinge xij. shil|lings.
