1314, June 24. Quit-claim to Godstow, by William de la hide, of lands held from Godstow.

THE sentence of þis chartur is, þat william de la hide of fencote yeldid & grauntid to dame Molde vpton, abbas of Gode|stowe, & to þe couent of þe same place, all þe londe with tene|mentes croftes haijs & dichis þat he had sumtime of þe letinge of aliȝ Gorges, abbas of Godestowe, & þe couent of þe same place, so þat noþer he ne none in his name miht chalenge oni riht or claime here aftur in þe tenementes a-fore-seide. In-to witnes of þe whiche þinge his seele was sette to þis presente writinge; þe date at Godestowe, in þe feste of seint Iohn baptiste, the vij. yere of kinge Edwarde þe sone of kinge Edwarde.

1314, Aug. 1. Life-rent by Godstow, to Thomas and Alice tailour, of the cowry and Calves|croft, as excepted in no 454. Quit-rent, 4s. yearly. Purchase|money, 13s. 4d.

THE sentence of þis chartur is, þat molde Vpton, abbas of Godestowe, & here couent, gaf, grauntid, & confirmid, to thomas tailour of fencote & to aliȝ his wife, j. howse þat is callid þe cowri, & on crofte I-callid þe caluene-crofte with haijs & dichis vppon euiri side, with all his pertinences or dewe to perteine, to be had & to be holde, with all cotages & fredoms, all þe dais of her life, for hem & for her successours, freli quietli welle & pesibli, painge þerof yerli to hem & to here successours iiij. shillings of siluer at to termis of þe yere, þat is to sei, at Mihelmas ij. shillings, & at oure ladi dai in marche ij. shillings for all seruice seculer & demaunde, sauinge vtwarde seruice: & for þis gifte graunte & confirmacion, þe fore-seide Thomas & aliȝ gaf to hem j. marke of siluer, so þat aftur þe decese of Thomas & aliȝ þe seide tenementes sholde turne ageine fulli to hem & to her successours: & if hit happun þe seide Thomas & aliȝ to faile in þe paiment of þe seide rente, in parte or in all, þat hit sholde be lefull to hem & here successours & procuratours to distreine vppon þe seide londis & tenementes & reteine the distresses til þat hit be satisfied fulli of þe arrerages. Furþermore þe seide molde & her couent warantiȝid & defendid all þe fore-seide tenementes to þe foreseid Thomas & aliȝ, all here life time, in þe forme a-fore-seide, a-geiniste all pepul.
