THE sentence of þys chartur is, that henry of Edmundisthrop gaf, grauntid, & confirmid with hys wrytynge, to god & to the churche of seynt Iohn baptist of Godestowe, & to the Abbas & couent brethyrn & systyrn of þe same place þer seruynge god, in-to pur & perpetuell almis, for þe saluacion of hys sowle & of Isabel hys wyfe & for þe saluacion of þe sowlis of all hys aunceturs & successours, ij. acris of londe the whyche lyen in the feeldys of kynges Clere, of þe whyche on acre lyeth in the west feelde at hellenestubbe, by-twene the londe þat was of henry Coke & þe londe þat was of william Cnoll; & an-oþer acre lythe in þe feelde in þe tilthe þat is callid burnefurlonge, in þe northe parte of þe londe þat was of Iohn scut, & strecchyth hyt-sylfe fro þe west towarde þe est vn-to woluethelynge, & þat acre is callid krockeresacre. The fore-seyde henry grauntyd þe seyde ij. acris of londe, with here pertinences, to be had & to be holde of hym & of hys heyrys, to þe seyde holy churche of seynt Iohn baptiste of Godestowe, to þe Abbas brethyrn & systryn of þe seyde holy hous, well & in peece, freely & quietly, hole & herytably for euyr; & þe seyde henry & hys heyrys warantiȝyd & acquited & defendyd þe seyde ij. acris of londe, with all here pertinences, to þe seyde holy church Abbas & couent brethryn and systryn of þe seyde holy hows & to her successours for euyr, a-geynyst all pepull: & þat hys gyft graunt & confirmacion myht be stronge & sure for euyr, [folio XXII(33)] he strengthyd hyt with þe puttyng to of hys seele.
