                                  Þat folk þo þai herden þis; þe kyng þai comen to:
                                
                                  "Ȝiue vs" þai seiden "Danyel; oure will with hym to do,
                                
                                  Oiþer we schullen þe sle; er we hennes gon."
                                
                                  Þe kyng was of hem sore adrad; & graunted hem onon.

                                  Onon þai token Danyel þo; & casten hym in-to a pytte,
                                
                                  Þere seuen hungri lyouns weren; þereinne all ydytte,
                                
                                  ffor þai hym strangli scholden; ac þai deden hym non harme;
                                
                                  Bot whan þat he was sett adoun; þai leneden in-to his barme.
                                
                                  A Man þere was þat hiȝth Abacuc; in-to þe felde he went, [¶ Abacuk.] 
                                
                                  Repmen forto bere mete; sone he hym þider sent.
                                
                                  Þe Aungel hym bad abide; & to Danyel it bere.

                                  Antecrist schal on erþe gon; & prechen his li er hede.
                                
                                  He schal go bot in þe holy londe; þere oure lord ȝede,
                                
                                  & his deciples in-to al þe werlde; his yuel wordes wil bede.
