Of þre kniȝtes so wele doinde, Line 5145 Oȝain þe Loreyns fiȝting. Gij to þe steward haþ y-smite, [C line 4927] Of his hors he feld him wiþ hete: Þurch strengþe of fiȝt he him wan. Þe oþer oway fleye ich man: Line 5150 Gij & Tirri hem folweþ stron[g]liche & her feren, [MS. ferren.] hardiliche. Alle þai ben ded oþer ouer-come: Þer bileued non vnnome. Gij & Tirri oȝain ben y-gon: Line 5155 Wiþ hem þai ladde her prisouns ichon. Whar-to schuld y þer-of lye? Þat day þai hadde þe maistrie.
Þan com forþ a kniȝt þer, [C line 4937] Þe tiding teld þe douke Loyer: Line 5160 'Sir douk,' he seyd, 'vnder-stond to me. To ben awreken now biþenke þe. Bifor Gormoise þat cite On arnemorwe þan come we Wiþ fif hundred of gode kniȝtes: [folio 134b:b] Line 5165 An acumbraunce ous come anon riȝtes. Alle nomen & slawen ben hye: Oȝein ne beþ nouȝt comen fourti. Repeired is þerl sir Tirri, Wiþ him of Warwike sir Gij, [l. 5170 before 5168 in MS.] Line 5170 Herhaud of Ardern, þe gode marchis, & wiþ hem fif hundred kniȝtes of pris, Þat gode ben to fiȝt & modi. Þine kniȝtes þai han slayn bi & bi.'
