Thus sayde saad folk in þat Citee Line 1002 whan þat þe poeple gased vp and doun For þay were glad right of þe nouelte To han a newe lady of her toun No more of þis now make I mencioun Line 1006 But to Grisildes agayn wol I me dresse And telle hir constance and hir busynesse / Line 1008
Ful busy was grisild in euery þing Line 1009 That to þe feste was appertinent Right nought was sche abaissht of hir cloþing Though it were ruyde . and som del eek torent But wiþ glad cheer to þe ȝate is sche went [folio 130a] Line 1013 with oþer folk to griete þe marquisesse And after þat doth forth hir busynesse / Line 1015
With so glad chier his gestes sche receyueth Line 1016 And so connyngly euerich in his degre / That no defaute no man aparceyueth But ay þay wondren what sche mighte be That in so pouer array was for to se Line 1020 And couþe such honour and reuerence And worthily þay prayse hir prudence Line 1022
In al þis mene while sche ne stent Line 1023 This mayde and eek hir brother to comende with al hir hert . in ful buxom entent So wel þat no man couþe hir pris amende But atte last whan þat þese lordes wende Line 1027 To sitte doun to mete he gan to calle / Grisild as sche was busy in his halle Line 1029
