NOw preye .I. to hem all þat herken þis litel tretis or rede; þat if þere bue any þinge in it þat likeþ hem; þat þere of þei þonken oure lorde ihesu criste of whome procedeþ al wite & al goodenesse. [1082] ¶ And if þere be any þinge þat displesen hem .I. preye hem also þat þei arette it to þe defaute of myne vnkonynge: & n[ot] to my will. þat wolde fulfeyne haue seide better. if .I. hadd konynge; [1083] For oure booke seyþe al þat is wreten is writen for oure doctrine & þat is myne entent [1084] ¶ Whare for .I. be seke ȝowe mekely att þe mercye of god; þat ȝe praye for me / þat criste haue mercie on me; & forȝeue me my gultes; [1085] And namely of my translaciones & endite|ynges of werldly vanytees ¶ þe whiche .I. reuoke in my re|tractions [1086] ¶ As is / þe booke of Troyles; ¶ The booke also of fame þe booke of xv ladyes ¶ þe booke of þe Duchesse; þe booke of seint valentynes day & of þe parlement of birdes ¶ þe tales of Cantur|bury þilke þat sounen in to sinne [1087] ¶ þe booke of þe lyon; And moni anoþere booke if þei were in myne remembraunce & mony a songe; & mony a lycherous laye; þat Criste for his grete Mercy forȝeue me þe sinne [1088] ¶ Bot of þe translacioune of Boyce de Consolacione; ¶ And oþere bokes of legendis of seintis; And omelyes & moralyte; & deuocions; [1089] þat þonke .I. oure lorde iesu criste & his blissed moder & al þe seintes of heuen; [1090] besecheinge hem ¶ þat þei from hennes forþe vnto my lyues ende sende me grace to beweyle my giltes; & to stody to saluacione of my soule; And graunt me grace of verrei penance con|fessione
