GOdfridus reigned̛ in Rome, and [that] had̛ iij. sonnes, the whicℏ he loved̛ mekeƚƚ [myche] . Whan he laye in [on] his dethe-bedde, and shuld̛ dye, he called̛ first to hym his eldest sone, and said̛ to hym, "My sone, aƚƚ the [myn] heritage, the whicℏ my fadir lefte [hathe left to] me, holicℏ [omitted] I leve and yeve it [omitted] to the." ¶ After that, he called̛ to hym his second̛ sone, and said̛ [seyde to hym] , My sone, dyverse londes and tenementis I have bought, and *theym̛ aƚƚ [tho] I yeve to [omitted] the, what so evir̛ thei be, that longe not to the heritage." ¶ Than he called̛ to hym the thirde sone, and said̛ to hym, "My [omitted] sone, I have *none mevables [no mevable goodes] that I may yeve to the, But I have iij.
