¶ But al to litel walawey þe while [ 1]
Lasteth swich Ioy I-thonked be fortune
Þat semeth trewest when she wol bigyle
and kan to fooles so hire song entune [ 4]
Þat she hem hente and blente traitour comune
And when a wight is from hire whiel Ithrowe
Than laugheth she and maketh hym þe mowe [ 7]

awey to wrythe and took of hym non hede
But cast hym clene oute of his lady grace
And on hire whiel she sette up diomede [ 11]
For whiche myn herte right now gynneth to blede
