Vsurarijs aliquando apparent demones in
morte.
Cesarius tellis how som̛ tyme þer was ane vsurar at was bown̛ to [dye] [Latin MSS. vsuraria moritura.] , and hym̛ thoght at he saw aƚƚ þe felde; fuƚƚ of crawis & crakis. And he began̛ for to cry faste & sayd̛; "Allas! alas! Se, now þai com̛ vnto me, ffor now þai er at þe dure. And now þai er in þe howse, and now þai [er] on̛ my breste, and now þai draw my saule oute of my bodie." And in þis crying he dyed̛. And þe same nyght, at many folke bothe hard̛ & saw, þai [Latin MSS. demones . . . cor tollentes usque ad tectum, &c.] lifte his bodie vp̛ into þe howse-rufe, & lete it faƚƚ oftsithis & breke aƚƚ to gobettis; and aƚƚ þe lyght in þe howse was putt oute, and men̛ & wommen̛ fled̛. & on̛ þe morn̛ þai fand̛ his bodie þer aƚƚ to-reven̛ & rente, and þai tuke it & beryd̛ itt in þe felde emang bestis.
