Virgines iuuat deus virginitatem suam custodire.

Saynt Ierom̛ tellis how on̛ a tyme when̛ a virgyn̛ wolde not sacryfice þe ydolfis as þe paynom commauns did̛ hur, þai led hur vnto þe bordeƚƚ-howse, and þer come thedur a yong man̛ to hafe defowlid̛ hur. And sodanlie þer come a lyon̛ rynnand̛ þurgℏ þe cetie vnto þe bordeƚƚ, & tuke þis yong man̛ & held̛ hym̛ and lukid̛ on̛ þe virgyn̛ & did̛ hym̛ no skathe, bod lukid̛ what sho wolde command̛ hym̛ to do. And he prayed þe virgyn̛ to command̛ þe lion̛ to lat hym̛ goo, and sho did gude for iƚƚ and commawndid̛ þe lyon̛ to lat hym̛ go. And þus he was delyverd̛, and þai þat saw had grete mervayle þeroff. And þe lyon̛ went̛ his ways & þai lete hur go.
