We rede in þe 'Storie of Alexander,' how þat when̛ Pausanias had wowndid̛ Philip̛, þat was Alexander fadur, þat hym̛ burde nedis dye, Alexander gatt þis Pawsanias & broght hym̛ vnto Philip̛; and he put a swerd̛ in his fadur right hand and helpyd̛ hym̛ with his hand̛ & slew hym̛. And when̛ he dyed̛ þis Philipp̛ sayd̛; "Now þe end of my lyfe, nor my dead̛, nor none oþer thyng may hevy me ewhuls I hafe slayn̛ hym̛ þat hase slayn̛ me. And, Alexander, I hafe mynd̛ of owr̛ god̛, how he said̛ vnto þi moder at sho sulde bere þe son̛ of vengeange." And with þat he lenyd̛ hym̛ down̛ and swelte.
