Thome Martiris Cantuariensis.
We rede in his 'Legent' how þer was in his dioces a preste þat daylie sang mes of our Ladie, and he was accusid̛ vnto þe archbisshop̛, Saynt Thomas, and he suspend hym̛ as ane ydiott & a man þat cuthe no gude. So on̛ a tyme when̛ Saynt Thomas sulde sew his hayre, & hid it vndernethe his bed to wache ane howr þat he mot sew it in, our Ladie apperid̛ vnto þis preste and bad hym̛ go vnto þe archbisshop̛, "þat sho, for whase luff þou [MS. þus.] was wunte say þi mes, hase sewid̛ his hayre þat lyes in suche a place," & teld̛ hym̛ þer sho lefte itt," and say þat sho byddis hym̛ relese þe suspension̛ þat he hase putt ayenys the." And he went & tolde hym̛, and when̛ he harde it & fand it was as he sayd̛, he [After he, had, erased.] relesid̛ his suspension̛ & bad hym̛ say mes styƚƚ of our Ladie, & bad him [MS. his] kepe it privay ewhils he liffid̛ & discure hym̛ noght.
