Signum. Signis evidentibus aliquando impedit Deus
malos vt non compleant quod ceperunt.
We rede how Iulianus Apostata in dispite of cristen̛ men̛ garte þe Iewis repayre and̛ belde agayn̛ ane olde temple, & gaff þaim grete gudis to þe bigyng þer-of. And when̛ þai had bygyd̛ vp̛ a grete dele þeroff with lyme and stone, sodanly þer come a grete wynd̛ & blew aƚƚ down̛, and efter þat þer come ane erde-quake & shuke down̛ þe reuersyon̛, & þan̛ þer come a fyre evyn̛ oute of þe grond̛, & not alonelie burnyd̛ itt, bod also aƚƚ þaim þat come nere it. And þan̛, wit-in a day or ij after, þer apperid̛ in þe ayre a syngne of þe cros. And sodanlie aƚƚ þe Iewis clothis wer fyllid̛ with blak crossis.
