apperid̛ vnto þe keper of þe [After þe, keper, erased.] kurk & said̛ vnto hym̛; "Go & say vnto þe bisshop̛ þat he caste oute yone stynkand̛ flessℏ oute of my kurk̘, or els he saƚƚ dye with-in xxxti dayes." And he had grete drede þeroff for to do itt, & wolde not do it. Vppon̛ þe xxxti day he went to bed̛ in wharte & heaƚƚ, & on̛ þe morn̛ he was fon̛ dead̛ in his bed sodanlie. Also Valentinus þat wont in Melayn̛, when̛ he was berid̛ in þe kurk of Saynt Sixtus, aboute mydnyght in þe same kurk was hard̛ voyces and cryes, as þer had bene men̛ [MS. a men̛.] at had bene drawn̛ oute þer agayn̛ þer wyƚƚ; vnto þe whilk voycis þe kepers of þe kurk̘ ran̛, and saw ij vglie [Latin, duos deterrimos specie.] þat band̛ þis Valentyne fete, and with a grete noyce þai drew hym̛ oute. And on̛ þe morn̛ þai soght for hym̛ & þai fand̛ his bodie with-oute þe kurk̘, casten̛ in a fowle dyke, and his fete bathe bon̛ samen as þai saw hym̛ drawen̛ oute of his grafe.
