Relinquere. Relinquendi sunt parentes a viris
perfectis.
Abbot Abraham on̛ a tyme tolde in his 'Collasion̛,' how som̛ tyme þer come a yong man̛ vnto Saynt Anton̛ þe abbott, and reprovid̛ þe life of ancharis and said̛ at þai war of more perfeccion̛ þat bade at hame with þer fadurs & þer moders, & ordand for þaim aƚƚ þing att þaim mysterd̛ and wroght beselie daylie, þan̛ þai war at went into wyldernes and [MS. repeats, and.] abstenyd þaim fro daylie laburyng, and gaff þaim vnto nothyng bod vnto redyng and̛ prayer. And Saynt Anton̛ ansswerd̛ hym̛ & said̛; "Son̛, þou at duse þus, whethur was þou not hevie when̛ þi fadur and þi moder happend any cace of aduersitie? And also was þou not ioyfuƚƚ when̛ þai war in prosperite?" And he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & said̛ yis. And þan̛ þis abbott sayd vnto hym̛; "þou saƚƚ vnderstond̛ þat in þe werld̛ þat is for to com þou sal be demyd̛ for to be in þer companye, in whase company in þis lyfe þou was conuersand̛, owder in wynnyng or in los, in ioy or in sorow. And þerfor̛ þuf aƚƚ we hafe bothe ffadurs & moders, yitt vs hase levur lefe þaim & liff in wyldrenes & þer take syke fude as God̛ sendis vs, þan̛ for to be in þe warlde & be sekur of fyndyng of our fadurs & moders."
