Predicacio. Predicandum sincere
MS. scincere. est propter deum.
Cesarius tellis how þer was ane of þe Premonstracencis ordur þat, when̛ he had̛ prechid̛ of þe cros, he dyed̛ and apperid̛ vnto his felow. And he axkid̛ hym̛ how at it stude with hym̛, and he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & sayd̛; "When̛ I dyed̛ devuls vmbelappid̛ me [MS. þaim. Lat. MSS. circumdederunt me demones.] , and ane of þaim sayd̛, 'þou kepyd̛ neuer trewlye þine ordur.' And a noder said̛, 'þou prechid̛ neuer trewlie for Goddis cauce.' And̛ I vnderstude at þai said̛ bothe trewlie, and I was nerehand̛ in despayr becauce þer was none att ansswer for me. And þan̛ almyghti God held̛ me with His hand̛ & sayd̛; 'ffolow Me, ffor þou prechid̛ for Me.' And onone þe fendes fledd, and I folowid̛ Cryste vnto evurlastand ioy; and I had none other payn̛ bod alonelie þis drede."
