We rede in 'Vitis Patrum' how som tyme þer was ij brethir, & þe tone was a pylgrem, and þe toder gaff hym̛ vnto quiete & ryste. So it happid̛ at þis pylgram̛ dyed̛, and angels tuke his saule & flow up̛ vnto hevyn̛ þer-with, & wolde hafe broght it in. And þan our Lord̛ said̛; "He was a little necligent, bod becauce he was a pylgram̛, þerfor̛ take hym̛ in." So onone after his other bruther dyed̛, and a gude olde man̛, þat saw aungels com̛ to þe furst & not to þe latter, he axked̛ our Lord̛ why þis was. And our̛ Lord̛ ansswerd̛ hym̛ agayn̛ & sayd̛; "Þis pylgram̛ in aƚƚ his life had̛ no comfurtℏ of none of his frendis, and þerfor̛ me behuvis comfurthe [MS. comfuthe.] hym̛ with myne angels; bod his bruther in his life had comfurtℏ of his gude frendis, & þer-for I comfurthid̛ hym̛ not with myne aungels."
