We rede in 'Gestis Iohannis Elemosinarij' when̛ Iohannes Elemosinarius, þat was patriark̘ of Alexander, vnto a pure man̛ þat axkid̛ hym̛ almos commandid̛ to be gyffen̛ v d̛ he had grete dedeyng at he wold̛ gyff hym̛ no more.
