Paciencia. Paciens eciam ab inferioribus suis
iniurias tollit.
Saynt Ierom̛ tellis how Socrates had ij wyfis, & oft sithes ather of þaim wold̛ flite with other, & evur he wolde do bod scorn̛ þaim. And att þe laste þai wex bothe wrothe with hym̛ & callid̛ hym̛ bellud̛ chule, & said̛ his nease droppid̛ & his een̛ ran̛, and þe harys on his browis war lyke swyne-brustyls. And þus þai made hym̛ fayn̛ fle fro þaim & leve þaim be þer one. And a man̛ axkid̛ hym̛ whi he wold̛ not bete þaim, and he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & sayd̛ þat womman, ay þe mor̛ sho was bett, þe wars was sho.
