Obediencia perfecta amorem naturalem postponit.
Cassianus tellis how som tyme þer was oon̛ taken̛ in-to ane abbay, & he broght with hym̛ his son̛ of viij yere olde; and he was disseverd̛ fro hym̛ & put in a-noder ceƚƚ. So þis abbot þoght þat he wolde [prufe] his obedians & his affeccion̛, & he commaundid̛ hym̛ to caste his son̛ in-to a grete watir. And onone as he had commandid̛ hym̛, he gatt his son̛ in his armys and come vnto þe watur-syde, and wold̛ hafe castyn̛ in his awn̛ barn̛ bod at þer was monkis þat wachid̛ what he wolde doo & lettid̛ hym̛. And yitt for aƚƚ at þai cutℏ do he keste it in, & onone þai gatt it oute and savyd itt olyfe.
