Obediendum est eciam in impossibilibus

Senek̘ [Arund. MS. Seuerus. Harl. MS. Seuarius.] tellis how þat vnto a man̛ þat shulde entre in-to religion̛ þe abbott declarid̛ þe grevus laburs þerof, & how þat hym̛ burd̛ doo aƚƚ suche þing as was commanddid hym̛; & he was nothyng ferd̛ þerfor̛ & recusid̛ nott to com̛ into religion̛, bod promysid̛ to be always pacient & obedient. So afterward̛ his maister þoght at he wold̛ prufe hym̛, so be cace it happend̛ at þe oven̛ of þer abbay was hate, redie to sett bread̛ in; and his maister commawndid̛ of obedyans to go into þis ovyn̛. And he left not to do his maister commandment, bod went in boldlie with a gude belefe; & when̛ he was in þe oven̛, þe hete þerof turnyd̛ in-to cold̛, so þat he felid̛ nothyng bod as it had bene sprencled̛ ouer with dew.
