ymage of hym̛, & sett hym̛ to kepe aƚƚ his gudis. And when̛ þe Iew on̛ a tyme was fro hame, thevus come & stale away his gudis, & when̛ he come and fand þai wer away, he began̛ to reprufe þis ymage, and bett itt sore. And Saynt Nicholas apperid vnto þies thevis, & shewid̛ þaim how his body was betyn̛ for þat gude att þai had stollen̛, and thretid̛ þaim at þai sulde be hanged̛ bod if þai had þis gude agayn̛ & restorid it, & teld̛ þaim at he was Saynt Nicholas, in whose kepyng þis Iew had putt aƚƚ his gudis. And þies thevis wer fferd̛, and broght aƚƚ þies gudis agayn̛, and tolde þe Iew þis meracle. And he was turnyd̛ & þai, bothe, and become gude men̛; & þe Iew was cristend̛.
