We rede in 'Cronicles' how þat Herode, when̛ he hard̛ teƚƚ þat þe Iewis abade with grete myrtℏ agayn̛ he sulde dye, he garte gadur samen aƚƚ þe noble yong men̛ of Iudee, & garte spar þaim in a prison̛, & commandid̛ vnto Salome his wyfe þat als tyte as he war deade, þat sho sulde sla þaim ilkone, at on̛ maner of wyse aƚƚ Iudee sulde make sorow when he was dead̛ as wele as þai dyd in his lyfe. And so was done.
